A spine refers to the edge where the outer covers and interior pages are bound, typically featuring artwork, the publication title and the author's name. For Perfect (PUR) items, upload a single PDF file or design one as part of a cover spread at 300 dpi. You can find your spine dimensions in your Shopping Cart or Artwork tab. Add 0.125" bleed to the top and bottom of your spine. For Hardcover items, add a 0.2" hinge area on both sides of the spine and 0.8" bleed to the top and bottom. Labeling your files will also ensure they appear in the right place. If you cannot upload spine artwork, add a blank page by clicking the blue three-dot button under the spine thumbnail. The Mixam site is relatively easy to use and was definitely easier this year (as opposed to last year, which was my first experience creating a yearbook). The main issue I have is your communication with customers. I don't like that once I approved my yearbook design (after your staff reviewed it) and made the necessary changes, more changes were suggested, all of which I had already fixed and/or did not wish to fix (such as a page border that I wanted). The back & forth took extra time that I did not have to finalize and submit my order so it would arrive on time. I was told my order would arrive by the date I requested, but it was a week late, which was after our school year ended. I was not informed that it would be late. I was not informed when it shipped either. My colleague, who had a separate order for our school, was informed that her order was delayed and would be late, and she was informed when it was delivered. We will be researching other publication companies for our yearbook print needs next year.

I found the website somewhat non-intuitive in certain respects and gave my hopefully constructive feedback to the Mixam team. The estimated delivery date was May 23rd and I got the first half of the order on June 3rd and the second half on June 4th. So, 11 days late. I considered a late shipment but had a week of slack built into my schedule - which was not enough for the eventual delivery schedule slip. That said, in general, the customer service folks that helped me with questions and technical issue were in the main nice, competent, and helpful folks. But, I did ask about the confidence in the delivery date and was told "customers typically get the delivery a few days before the estimated date." Not in my case. If there was a 3.5 star, that's what I would give on service.
